the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Kuwait



Major General Md Ashikuzzaman, ndc,afwc,psc,G, has joined as Ambassador of Bangladesh in Kuwait on 24 August 2020. He was commissioned in the year of 1988 in the Regiment of Artillery. During his long distinguished career, he severed in various capacities as instructor, staff and command appointments. His instructional appointment includes Instructor Gunnery, Artillery centre and school and, Senior Directing Staff at National Defence College. As a staff officer he served as Brigade Major in Headquarters Artillery Brigade, as Grade-1 staff officer in Army Headquarters and as Colonel Administration in Area Headquarters. As Brigadier General he also served as Station Commander where he was deeply involved in the infrastructure development and wellbeing of the officers and men under Division and Area Headquarters. He also served as Director Artillery in Army Headquarters in 2018/2019 where he was involved in the procurement of Arms, equipment and materials for the Regiment of Artillery. His command responsibilities include Commanding Officer of Artillery Regiment in Insurgency prone Area and a Brigade Commander of an Artillery Brigade.


As Lieutenant Colonel he was trained both at home and in Thailand on the protection of VVIP/Dignitaries and served as Director of Special Security Force in Bangladesh.


Major General Ashik has a wide range of experience in the United Nations Peace Keeping Operation. He served as Contingent Member in Sierra Leone in 2001, as Military observer in Ivory Coast in 2005 and as Contingent Commander in DR Congo in 2014. Besides participating in different military Courses both home and abroad he is a graduate of Defence Service Command and Staff College, Bangladesh and obtained Masters of Defence Studies (MODS) in 2000 from National University, Bangladesh. He is also graduated from the National Defence College and obtained his Masters on Strategic Studies (MOSS) from National University of Bangladesh in 2010. He obtained a diploma in Arabic Language from Dhaka University, Bangladesh.


He is happily married to Nahid Niaz Shilu. She is Masters in Social Science and housewife. They have two sons. Their elder son Md Farhan Ashik, he is student of PhD in the University of Sydney, Australia, and another one Md Fardeen Ashik, a student of Higher Secondary Level in Bangladesh.


He is fond of playing golf and paintings in his leisure time.
