CURRICULUM VITAE OF 

MAJOR GENERAL SYED TAREQ HUSSAIN, OSP, awc, psc  Ambassador-Designate of Bangladesh to Kuwait 

Major General Syed Tareq Hussain, OSP, awc, psc was commissioned in the corps of Infantry in 1989. Throughout his acclaimed service career, he has served in different tiers of command, staff, instructional and diplomatic assignments with distinction. He has commanded an Infantry Battalion, two Infantry Brigades and an Infantry Division. He also served as Commandant of Bangladesh Ordnance Factories and Senior Directing Staff (Army) of National Defence College, Bangladesh.

  In staff appointments, has served as a Grade-3 Staff Officer in an Infantry Brigade Headquarters, as Grade-2 Staff Officer in an Infantry Division Headquarters and as Grade-1 Staff

Officer in the Army Headquarters. He also served as Director of the Inspection and Technical Development Directorate in the Army Headquarters, Bangladesh Army. In his wide-ranging instructional assignments, he has served as a distinguished instructor in the School of Infantry and Tactics, in the Tactics Wing. He had been a Directing Staff and later Chief Instructor in the Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Bangladesh. He served as Battalion Commander of the Bangladesh Military Academy. In diplomatic assignment, he served as counsellor in a Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh.

Throughout his illustrious career, Major General Tareq has undergone an array of professional courses both at home and abroad. Apart from the mandatory courses, he has attended All Arms Tactics Course and Managing Defence in Wider Security Context Course. He has graduated from Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Bangladesh and Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, India. Furthermore, he is a graduate of the U.S.

Army War College, Pennsylvania. He also underwent ‘International Symposium Course’ in National Defence University, China. He has obtained Masters degree in Defence Studies from National University of Bangladesh, Masters degree in Defence and Strategic Studies from Madras University, India and Masters degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. 

He has actively participated in the counter insurgency operations in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh. He had a tour of duty as staff officer in the Force Headquarters of the United Nations Angola Verification Mission III (UNAVEM III). He also participated in the United Nations Operations in Ivory Coast (UNOCI) as Operations Officer in the Sector Headquarters.

In personal life, he is happily married to Bilkis Begum Simi and the couple is blessed with two daughters. His hobby includes reading books, listening to music and playing golf.
